I would like to try this app, but how do you set up a SIP account?

Nice VoIP SIP client but only basic features. Native macOS application! I don't like the subscription to support development. Works well with my Fritz!Box and the Deutsche Telekom.

Nice application. For everyday use. Comprehensive UI.

Telephone is very handy. It is easy to call, the interface is user-friendly. It is very convenient to put on hold or transfer calls. Great for office work. The app is free but there's an option to buy a paid subscription for reasonable price. I like it.

Beautifully minimalist, well designed, and has worked perfectly for me using my Phone Power account. Love the Contacts integration! For the additional 1/2 star the nerd in me would like to see connection info when I'm in a call. Of course call time, but also codec, packets in/out, bit rate in/out, and I'm sure there is a lot more that Alexei could come up with. Also, is there a way to add a plugin into contacts (like Skype does) so that one can make a Telephone call directly by clicking on a number in Contacts?

Probably best SIP client for OS X. And free. Wow. Thank you guys!

Awesome minimalistic SIP VoIP app, I cannot wait for the iOS version for my iPad -- but it has to support Push Notifications to be useful, else you cannot get incoming call notifications. I would also like to see Push Notification support for the Mac version!

I am a new Mac user. I downloaded Telephone and configured my Voip account successfully since it shows me available. I tried to make calls but the problem i face is that my voice is not getting transmitted over the network nor i can hear the voice from the other side. I don't even hear the tone of the bell but the people whom i call do get bells. They answer the calls but we still can't communicate. I have tried many networks but the problems stays. Can you tell me what to do about it.

Have tried several "phone app's". None of them has brought me any satisfaction. To download telephone I have to register on the Appstore? Mr Developer, why do you want to dissuade potential customers to use your application?

OK Well Apple has screwed many of us. First, this utility is reported to be free so why must anyone go to the App Store? Second, when I try to go to the App Store, I'm told that this item is not available there. Third, when I still try to access the App Store, Apple tells me to go away because I'm not in the USA. Way to go, Apple! 96% of the world's population left out in the cold!

The app is easy to download and install. Easy to configure with the free SIP service I get from Pbxes.org and Google Voice. Easy to make calls, easy to receive them. I was trying to use the soft phone to dial into a conference call, and at first I thought there was no way to add DTMF tones to a call in progress. In the discussion forum, I discovered that you can type the numbers when the cursor has focus on the window for your call in progress. But there is no user feedback to indicate this capability exists, so you have to type the numbers blindly and nothing happens until you hit return. I would prefer a keypad graphic and local audio for the tones as the keys are clicked. Performance is great, price is unbeatable. Nicely done, Mr. Kuznetsov!

Very decent softphone

For the benefit of many of us non-nerds out here, could you explain what SIP is and whether this software is likely to work for us in ordinary life? (Attempted the expalnation on Wikipedia but was defeated after the first few lines.) Specifically, in my case, in the UK? Is this different to/better than Skype?

Fantastic! After struggling to get the X-lite for OSX beta to keep working for the last month (including having to wind back the date to Jan 2010 because the demo is expired and there is no new one), I took a punt and downloaded Telephone 0.15. Wow! While it is barebones, it works. And it works well! Great job. And thanks!

that's an awesome piece of software ! - one question : how does the new "Services menu support" works ? I can't get Telephone to show up in Services menu ... - I noticed that 0.15 had been released completely randomly, because the sparkle auto update didn't kick in thanks for all, Alexei :)
