RSS Menu overview

RSS Menu is a systemwide menu that allows you to read and organize your favourite RSS or Atom feeds.

The articles are automatically updated and you will get a notification when new articles are available or when some other event occurs. In addition to visual notification, you can also enable speech notification and choose one of the many built in voices.

Even I'm happy to see RSSMenu has new life, I must report two (minor) bugs: - one that I reported for version 2.5 and 2.6, and isn't solved for now: read and unread articles scattered in the menu (see my comment from 25/06); - second bug is that while I loaded again RSS feeds to RSS Menu 2.31 (exporting and importing them), every time I reboot my Mac, the new RSS Menu (>2.5), adds the feeds from RSS Menu 2.3, duplicating feeds more times.

I'm really happy to learn that RSS Menu is still developed and has an upgrade (2.5) I received through App Store... but I must notice that it won't import RSS feeds from previous version (2.3.1) and trying to import the feeds, brings RSS Menu preference window to freeze. I can even open another preference window from menu, but can't close frizzed one. This happens before I can select exported feeds file. All this on my MacPro mid 2010 with macOS 10.14.5.

IT Doesn't work in Mavericks 10.9.4 so exactly where does it work?

And in addition it says G reader in the preferences. I got it free in the MAS store because I bought it previously ,the developer eDot studios tod me he gave up trying to make it work in Snow Leopard.

From longtime user: Minimal clutter, maximal utility, persistently stable, sufficiently customizable (can: arrange feeds however you want, separate by separator lines, and group feeds into folders). On MBAir OS 10.8.4, I am still using v. 1.12 freeware.

Thank you for this update, it works perfectly for me! I'm a loooooong time user of RSS Menu and have always preferred it over anything else out there. The simplicity of quickly scanning feeds in minimal space, the fact it's always 'on top' in the menu bar, no app switching required - why would anyone want to use Google Reader or similar? What advantages do standalone readers have over RSS Menu? But I realize, we should accept the diversity of opinions here, as long as they are offered with substance and respect. So, can the flamers here please go elsewhere?

Integrating Google Reader is absolutely desperate. Feeds from Google Reader are not synchronized. Read again and again as unread. Each time you start the application! Absolutely not reflect the real state of the channels in Google Reader!!!!!! An icon in the menu on Google Reader feeds not working!!! Unable to set "Mark all read" group-wide all Google Reader. For managing RSS feeds from Google Reader totally useless ...

I can't even rate this. Great little app. version 2.2 comes out and deletes all my RSS feeds. So I deleted the app. Pathetic but more importantly, disappointing because I really liked it.

The Blurb on MacUpdate sys it is fit for 10.6.6 or above but the comment for the Developer states it can only be used for 10.7 and above due to SandBoxing so MacUpdate should fix this in their requirements.

Thank you for updating my favourite RSS reader! I can now ditch the rest and go back to the best. I don't agree with some people who say that this app needs Reader integration to stay alive, it does not. This is a fast parsing RSS reader that sits on the menubar and does exactly what it is supposed to do. I, for one, do not need to bring the big "G" into the equation for my RSS feeds. Thank you for making a quality piece of free software.

Thank you for keeping this wonderful gem alive - and free!!! It is one of my top 5 favorites since quite some time! I tried Google Reader, Reeder and others, but always happily returned to RSS Menu, there is nothing easier out there!

I don't know...I wanted to like this product as it just seems so cool. And it is a very polished product, perfect for the geek who loves his RSS. I just feel it could be easier to use. I want to be able to choose from a nice list of RSS feeds like those shown in the screenshot. So, I think it is a very nice piece of software--but perhaps a little more than I personally was looking for.
