RecordPad is a sound recording program for Mac OS X. Using RecordPad you can quickly and easily record audio notes, messages, or annoucements in either .wav or .mp3.

Audio Hijack is $49, just $9 more. Audio Hijack has significantly more features, not the least of which is the ability to directly capture output from an app (iTunes, Safari, etc) so you can capture streams. RecordPad will not capture streams, per the FAQ on the developer's site.

Dreadfully buggy, although it ought to be operable under OS 10.6.7 Certainly overpriced by a factor of 8 — since it is extremely buggy.

A great piece of software. Very simple, very easy to learn and use, lots of clever add-ons like automatically emailing the recording you just made to any email address or uploading it to a website. Attractive design too. A great example of good software design.
