their app is free still functionable but it glitched. for its Extension, it's a total mess, in conclusion, no use at all. abandonware

Started trial version. Imported a folder with images. Hangs after 3 images. Application unresponsive. Attempting a second time. Importing a different folder with images. Hangs on the 5th image. Application gets moved to the trash. That's all folks!

I restarted the trial. Importing is easy, but quite slow. Took 7 hrs to import 25% of my 34 gb library. It does not restart importing from where I stopped it. So now I'll have to do that manually for the remaining 75%. Besides that, it looks very good, clean. Only if the developer could comment here if it's possible to renew importing from any point/folder or the only way to renew importing is manually ?

Just like Ember or Little Snapper, Pixave is abandonware. It looked promising at first but turned out to be run by a developer who disliked the idea of maintenance, let alone proper updates. It's weird how these digital scrapbook apps so often seem to attract questionable devs - especially when considering how much money could be made if someone took their job seriously.

I bought Pixave soon after it first arrived in 2015 and was very pleased with it. Whilst some aspects of the interface are a little unintuitive, altogether the app worked well. Syncing via iCloud with my laptop worked fine and I invested in the iOS version too, although syncing the library there could take a while and seemed occasionally to repeat itself without apparent reason. So far, so good. However, recently an important library of professional work refused to open correctly. No images appeared, no collections, nothing, yet the library was still 1,4GB in size. A backup version has the same problem so it seems clear to me something has probably gone wrong with the library database. I was alarmed as this work is valuable to me and I sent an urgent request for help to the dev, LittleHJ. It is now a week later and I have still had no response despite a repeat request. The Pixave website and general activity around the app seem to have quieted down a lot recently and I am wondering if the dev has maybe got tired of the app and has moved on to other things conveniently leaving loyal customers like me in the lurch. So my advice is to beware of keeping important data in Pixave or to have a non-Pixave backup if you do. In any event I will not be using Pixave any more. I am laboriously rebuilding my library from other sources and am cautiously looking around for a replacement from a reliable developer.

I think Pixave is capable of simple picture management scenarios, but if you have a large number of image categories, it will be a disaster, it is very inefficient. I'm trying it right now. Importing in Pixave a folder with graphics(incl. vectors).
27 GB is the size of the folder. Started yesterday around 4PM. Now is 7AM and so far only 78% completed. It's 15 hours! I'm aware it's importing the original files. Regardless, it is unbelievably slow.

Decent I guess.. these media management apps come and go.. and none ever took the crown (or maybe for a minute) over the about 25 years I've been on Mac. A major drawback of this app is its inability to import files it cannot read..

Case figure: you want to keep a hierarchy of folders that contain say.. UI elements.. so you may have vector files, raster files and maybe some css, html, js etc.. well Pixave will only imports the files it CAN read.. so if you throw away your original folder hierarchy thinking you've got an all-around assets manager..well... you're screwed. as you'll have thrownn away your css, html etc and will be left with your graphic files only.

Sometimes I feel Finder is still the safest and most open-ended file manager as lacking as it may be.

Fantastic programs for capturing, archiving and organizing images! Deep and wide feature set, very consistent and stable. Working out great for me, a real value.

Bought it yesterday. In fact I'm quite disappointed, compares to Pixa. 1st, Pixave doesn't support live folder mode. You can only either choose "manage mode" which copies every image file into the library. or the "preview mode" which only creates some thumbnails, any change you make to the original folder, add some pictures, for example, won't show in Pixave. You can't drag some pics into Pixave hope they can be copied to the folder neither. 2nd, Pixave is much slower than Pixa, I mean like 5 times slow... When I tried to import files to Pixave, my external HDD growled for quite a long time... while Pixa finished shortly. 3rd, the Library file size is large. I imported 29 small image files to both Pixa and Pixave. Pixave created 876KB files while Pixa created just 415KB. Sad thing is, Pixa's author hasn't update it for quite a long time... the team looks like still active, but Pixa is not on their priority list.

Pixave is great and I think you can't find any other tool with all those feature for this price. But still there are some minor but important things I miss: - It is not possible to select and move more than 1 item at the same time - There is no kind of temporary collection to just grab your images and move them to a collection afterward. This means you may find screenshots put at wrong places (into the last selected collection) when you don't be careful. - The window (also the mini window) is always in view, except you hide the app or close the window

Overall really nice. Could use a couple more features, such as image rotation and map display for geolocation. It also takes quite a while to import images, especially if there's a lot of them. I could see that if I was moving the images into the Pixave database, but if I am keeping them in their current location I wouldn't think it should take as long as it does. Still a very good app.

This is my favorite image/reference organizer. Well executed! Fast! Works with dropbox......seriously dope app!

This app does, at 1/4 of the cost and since v1.0.0, all that E***r, its main competitor, never achieved despite developers promises made years ago. Not only: it even goes far beyond! Moved all my archive to Pixave and will never look back :)

I found this to be a great digital scrapbook that supports importing not just de facto established graphic files but also formats from less widely used apps, that nevertheless are important tools in an arsenal of many designers: documents created in Affinity Photo/Designer, Acorn, Pixelmator, Sketch, Autodesk Graphic (ex iDraw), provided you have any of these installed. Personally, I regularly use Serif's Affinity apps and this is a great boon for me. Quite solid app overall and I am very pleased with it.
