I’ve used NZBDrop for years and it just keeps getting better and better! Just had a problem for the first time getting my upgrade serial sent to a old email address and they fixed it pronto! All the new features in 4.0 look great! Keep up the good work!

Sab and NzbGet et al server apps are great to have on your server but if you want to grab something on the go quickly you need this app too.

NZBDrop is the best usenet/nzb-tool there is. Before I used Unison, which isn't bad, but NZBDrop is just better. Thanks!

This is one of the best apps I ever used. Worth every penny. I have had occasional problems, but the Asar staff has been receptive and helpful. I wish more software companies were like these folks. Keep up the great work, guys.

The reviews below are old, and in my opinion, do not tell what this application is today. Having been a windows user for some time, then linux and finally moving to OSX I needed an NZB program that was familiar to me, that monitored my download folder, repaired / extracted everything, allowed multiple server connections SSL, and to have good support. NZBdrop ticks all the boxes for me, I've requested improvements/ features in the past, and have had quick responses followed by updates with those requests.... Version 3.0 has just been released, and even though there were great improvements in the previous version, this version is now exactly how I need it. The user interface is tidy, clean, and not bloated with crap which other applications suffer from. As for the price.. its a very small price to pay for what you get. Those of you that have moved from windows, and have failed to find an alternative to newsleecher, look no further. Those of you who have perhaps tried it in the past, and didn't get on with it, or have never tried it at all, the demo is FREE to try, with all the features, you've nothing to lose.

Do yourself a favor and use SABnzbd+ instead. You'll save yourself $30 and a lot of hassle. Here are my problems with this application: * The interface is a bewildering mess. Does "Pause"/"Resume" operate on the highlighted download or on the whole queue? This is just one example of the many UI flaws that make for a very frustrating experience. * Post-processing is much more error-prone than other clients. * App sometimes completely locks up, requiring a force quit. SABnzbd+ is free, open source, and frequently updated with new features. I'm struggling to come up with a single reason to use NZB Drop, and I'm coming up empty. As a Cocoa-based app, it should offer a superior experience, but it doesn't. SABnzbd's web-based interface is more straightforward *and* offers more flexible and powerful features. It's really a no-brainer.

I think this is the best simple easy nzb client going for OSX. I really like it. Personally I find their customer support slow but always they do answer and help for sure. They are a small company. Price sorry to say they cannot escape this because competition is cheaper. The competition may not be as good for me but cheaper is cheaper. When more than one app enters the market and are close price does need to be fought out even at the cost of the developers as that is business. All I would say is try it before you decide on just price. It is worth that as many like me are happy to pay to keep this app going. YMMV.

I like the GUI of NZB Drop better than it's competitors and it is certainly fast, but the price is completely unrealistic - especially when you take into account that it does not have some fairly critical features like RSS support. The reality is that for people seeking a Mac OS GUI - NZB Vortex, while not as pretty, does a better job for less cost - and both of them are trumped by the feature set of SAB+ which is free. Were this priced more realistically I might consider it.

While not the cheapest NZB downloader, I like NZBDrop the best. I like being able to choose different search engines which gives me more options. I also like the GUI better than NZBVortex, but I can understand why people choose the cheaper alternative. I've always gotten quick responses from the developer and have been using his software for at least 10 years. He's been writing software for the Mac since OS 9, so I'll keep supporting someone who has been supplying solutions for me for as long as this developer has. YMMV.

I agree this app is overpriced. I registered when it was version 1.2 and at that time there was a dearth of such apps. When version 2.0 appeared I did not upgrade but continued to use 1.4 Lately I decided that 1.4 is really outdated and needed to upgrade. I compared NBZ Drop 2.04 to NBZ Vortex; both are great apps but decided on the latter not only because it is cheaper given comparative features but also because Ascar's support is non-existent. They have never replied my request for help both on their website and on email when I had problems with version 1.3.

Another + for NZBVortex. Great app, cheaper, more upgrades (free so far), what more could you ask for. This is a good app, but the developer needs to establish his app first, before charging the earth for it and its upgrades.

As a past customer its very disappointing to find that an upgrade to v2 would cost me another $19.00. NZBVortex is the best NZB client around at the moment & at just $14.99 is $5 less for the whole application than it is for me to upgrade to v2 of NZB drop - that says it all. Upgrades should be free, but if you have to charge at all, a reasonable fee like $9.99 would be far more fair - after all I've already paid you once. NZB Drop is a nice app but overpriced - especially for the upgraders. NZB Vortex is better & cheaper and (so far) hasn't charged a penny for the upgrades either. Until NZB drop lowers its price point it represents poor value for money.

App is too expensive especially in view of the support which is virtually zero. SABnzb is free and has more functions. Nices of this is that you give it a .nzb and end up with the endproduct whereby SABnzb deletes everything that is not needed anymore.

I paid for this software on Sept 29 2008, and for the most part it works very well. However, I have noticed that if used over a period of 3-4 days, eventually NZB Drop will start failing to work, downloads will slow to a crawl before eventually the app stops responding at all.... I will now look at quitting and restarting the app on a daily basis to see if this allows me to avoid the problem.

This is a very good program when it works. I registered this last year and it was working for one and a half months. After I decided to forsake Easynews and added Newshosting and Newsguy, the multi-server feature that is supposed to work would queue all files even those that were downloading half way. I wrote to Ascar Corporation twice, once on their website following a few weeks later by an email to the developer who had sent me the serial number. In neither case did I receive a reply. I have been waiting since. Therefore be forwarn that if you buy a license there is no support although the deveoper's website claims otherwise.

Version 1.1 fixes some annoying bugs and works very fast and reliably. I was somewhat worried about the price, but at the time that I bought it I couldn't really find a good alternative. The only other half-decent product I could find was way over-priced even compared to this product, so that makes this a value alternative. This is the way to go if you have frequent large downloads and you have access to NZB files. Hellanzb is fine for those who are comfortable working with compilers and command line tools, but NZB Drop is for the rest of us.

Seriously, the only decent downloader for any OS is hellanzb. It will download PAR files as necessary, repair, extract, sort and notify via growl. Truly a "one click" experience once set up correctly. SABnzbd isn't even worth mentioning. http://www.hellanzb.com/trac/
