MacScan designed exclusively for Mac OS X, and including full support for Apple's latest release of OS X 10.11--provides protection against the continued growth of malware by offering advanced detection and removal of security and privacy threats.
MacScan makes it easy to protect against malware with an intuitive interface and enhanced scan capabilities. Automatic malware definition updates ensure that you're protected against the latest threats, and scheduled scans can keep tabs on your computer's security even when you're not there. When it comes to privacy threats, MacScan can automatically remove blacklisted tracking cookies or clean files left behind by popular web browsers, saving disk space and erasing private data.

- Internet Clutter Cleanup: Remove unnecessary files left behind by web browsers to free up valuable hard drive space and eliminate private data. Expanded cleaning options give you complete control and customization when it comes to your privacy protection.
- Scheduled Scans and Automated Cleaning: MacScan has a built-in scan scheduler that gives you complete control to choose when a scan should automatically run, and allows you to configure different scans to run at different times. If you're looking for a quick solution to tracking cookies, MacScan has an automatic cookie cleaning feature that will target and remove blacklisted tracking cookies when you are done surfing the net, leaving the rest of your cookies in place -- no user interaction required!
- Malware Definition Updates: MacScan automatically checks for malware definition updates before each scan, so you can easily stay up-to-date with protection against the latest Mac malware threats targeting OS X.
- Expanded Tracking Cookie Cleaning Options: MacScan comes loaded with detection capabilities for a huge number of known tracking cookies (over 25,000 and counting!), with a database that is updated on a regular basis. If there is are specific cookies that you want to keep, or ones that you always want to remove, you can now specify a custom whitelist and blacklist for cookies on your system.

- Fixed bug where Scheduled Scans don't run properly in macOS Big Sur. If you've experienced this, update to v3.3.2 and launch MacScan. Go to Scheduler icon > uncheck 'Enable Scheduled Scans' > re-check 'Enable Schedule Scans' > quit application.
- MacScan is now bundled with the latest malware definition and tracking cookie blocklist updates
- User interface updates and improvements

The developer of MacScan never kept up with the times. Neither in its look & feel or its protection. When compared with SweetP's Cookie.app it pales in comparison. Look at pricing vs. protection and its 'real world' use? And you'll soon see that MacScan is nothing more than a cookie remover. And the minuscule amount of malware it finds? You'd be better off with the free version of Malwarebytes.

Not to mention that their customer service is not at all there for it's former customers trying to 'nickel & dime' it's former customers? You would be better served elsewhere. And this comes from someone who rarely leaves negative comments here on MacUpdate.

It used to be cost effective and has a nice, interface. It is ONLY proactive in that it reminds you when you haven't run it recently. MY complaint is they've crawled on the $50/yr fee structure. I'm being $50/yr to death. IF I used my computer for business, perhaps worth the expense. as a private individual, they've priced themselves out of reach. I'm now using a couple of much lower cost tools to do the same thing. Wish the pricing change hadn't come. I was happy with the product

NOT impressed! It missed malware and viruses that both Bitdefender and ClamXav found with ease. Bitdefender and ClamXav are both free and far superior than this lame Macscan, which is a PAID antivirus! DON'T waste your money! NOT worth it!

I own this, but still do not understand it. Application is not pro active, one has run what want done. I want an application with ongoing protection. Update very easy.

Most of the people here only have ONE post, which rates this application as 5 stars! Very suspicious about this approach and disappointed in MacUpdate not to pick up on it. My rating for MacScan is a solid 3. It's good, but overpriced... and rarely updated.

It might find the cookies, etc., but in the process everything became so slow it essentially made my MacBook Pro unusable. So, I uninstalled it and do not use it. BTW, IMO there are better ways with other applications to keep one's computer free of unwanted cookies, viruses, etc.

Hi, I've bought because I'm not 100% lucky with the super "bitdefender."
MacScan I use more than 7 years. My super "bitdefender" was not able to delete 4 malware and 1 trojan! That's why I bought the "super MacScan 3" - super program. Perfect, simple, cheap, I am very happy. My burglar threats have been solved! I recommend buying unconditionally, and use. I have Mac. Thanks "super MacScan"!

I had a problem (my fault - through google chrome) and the guys from mac scan gave me excellent customer service... They really went out of their way to help me and fix the problem. You just don't get that level of support anymore!!

The experts say I should be anti-mailware software on my Mac. Well, ok since they know a lot more than I do about it. I've been running MacScan for a week now and have set up automatic malware and cookie scans. I've had zero problems with MacScan and have signed on for a 2-year subscription. I had one question about the program which I submitted on a Friday evening. I received a prompt reply the very next day which impressed me. As yet I've not noticed the program updating it's database of malware, but it appears that one must go thru the logs to pick this up. Prior to my use of MacScan I was using Avira which was free but I never knew if it was doing anything or not since there were no logs for the user to display. All-in-all I'm quite content using MacScan and am very impressed with their support team.

Easy to setup. The first scan takes a bit if you have never run any kind of malware app. My first scan found just over 1000 issues. After the first scan, successive runs take much less time.
