(from their page at the App Store -- hard to interpret...) : Due to the sunset of Google Reader, we’ve decided to automatically migrate your subscriptions and folders to the local RSS Engine in version 1.2 of Leaf. The Google Reader based version of Leaf is available on the Mac App Store for free. You can download and use it until the 1st of July, and manually migrate your data to Leaf anytime. How can I access my feeds from multiple devices after the sunset? The “normal version” of Leaf recently operates as a “standalone RSS reader” for your Mac. Leaf already has a very sophisticated sync-engine for cloud based backends. We keep our eyes opened for the upcoming alternatives (i.e.: Feedly, Digg Reader, etc.) and support them as soon as possible. Let us know about your ideas and suggestions by using our support form.

From: Powering Down Google Reader 3/13/2013 04:06:00 PM Posted by Alan Green, Software Engineer We have just announced on the Official Google Blog that we will soon retire Google Reader (the actual date is July 1, 2013). We know Reader has a devoted following who will be very sad to see it go. We’re sad too. There are two simple reasons for this: usage of Google Reader has declined, and as a company we’re pouring all of our energy into fewer products. We think that kind of focus will make for a better user experience. To ensure a smooth transition, we’re providing a three-month sunset period so you have sufficient time to find an alternative feed-reading solution. If you want to retain your Reader data, including subscriptions, you can do so through Google Takeout. Thank you again for using Reader as your RSS platform. Labels: reader, sunset
