Further to my post below. I uninstalled this app I originally downloaded from the AppStore and re-installed it after downloading from the developer's website. I don't know what changed or what is different, but it's working now and has really helped me a lot. Will be using it a lot from now on.

I believe the developer should have been kind enough to mention that his software is only useful for the English language. There are people who do not yet understand that there are over a hundred languages besides English, some of them much older!

It's great until you find out that everything you type has been sent to their server for review for your purposes as well as theirs, so now you have no privacy and they have as much information as they want on you.

I have an app called Grammarly for Safari, ver 9.4, 8/20/19, Is this the same app?

If only there was a real, seriously competent grammar checker available for Mac. IMHO there isn't. To have Grammarly among the (IMHO) incompetents, bombarding the Internet with ads for its software as well as charging (IMHO) exorbitant subscription fees is (IMHO) very upsetting. And supposedly we've entered the era of 'artificial intelligence'. Nope! Not in the field of grammar checking! Is English really so chaotic that no one can create a decent grammar checking program? *annoyed*

This is a cloud based service which requires registration. Not suitable for confidential texts.

The free version is constrained. The full version is subscription based and costs a minimum of $140/yr if paid annually and around 3x as much is purchased for shorter intervals.

Personally, I can't stand their commercials with the smug, pushy actors that insist if you don't use this stinking product then you're primordial ooze unworthy of written language. The whole smarmy feel of it regurgitates memories of the ads for "Blue Hippo Computers". Recall their ads: "Are you stupid? Uh huh. Are you poor and just unable to manifest any sort of financial responsibility? Uh huh. Do you want, no, DESERVE a new computer? UH HUH! Are you really stupid enough to send money to us with our annoying, insistently overly chummy cartoon mascot? Uh huh." I was amazed how many idiots fell for that. If you're not familiar with it, do a google search and laugh at the blatant rip off it was and how the company shipped, like, only a dozen computers for the years it ran the ad.

I was considering the upgrade to premium because I've been writing a lot more, but I write in Google Docs and it is not functional. Does anybody know of a way around that or if Grammarly is planning on adding this soon?

This is app is so 1980's. Why would anybody want to check the file by dragging it to the app icon? Reload your document over, and over, and over in order to edit? Grammarly IS NOT free. The company offers a free crippled demo to get your email address. Then the company continually sends you emails. This is phishing. The Grammarly service uses fake news and web partners for its web presence. Grammarly is evil. Ten thumbs DOWN.

Grammarly would become a 'must have' IF: 1) the price would be fair (say 10 times lower) 2) it would work on Mail, Skype and any other program which uses text, not just text editors 3) if the suggested corrections would be less stubbornly presumptuouse, near imposing to lower the language AND PUNCTUATION level to a cheap one, good just for the crowd!
