Very happy to have my working "dog" back on the hunt at 64-bit. There's nothing like Fetch's intuitive interface, functionality, proper file encoding, and ease of use. I have depended on it—and all its upgrades—professionally, for two decades. I trialed two alternatives recently, before the 64-bit update—no comparison! I recommend Fetch.

Great to have you back! In the absence of a 64bit version until now, I purchased Forklift, which is really good, but SO nice to have the faithful dog back, lovely simple interface, and at no extra charge as mentioned elsewhere. Happy, happy, happy!

I went over to TRANSMIT 5.6 for a while, but it's got buggy as hell on Mojave, so back again to calm waters with the new, stable 64-bit v5.8 of FETCH. Ahhhhhh, bliss.

This is how you do it. No charge for the 64bit version! Thanks for that. If you like the collection feature here, this one has to be in there. Outstanding work!

The best FTP client for me. It hasn't changed much over the years, and that's just fine because it doesn't need changing. It's functional and well-designed, has a nice UI, and still has the little running dog! I've grown attached to that little dog. If that little dog goes, I'll consider Transmit. Until then, it's Fetch for me.

Don't remember if I have reviewed it before - one of the oldest and most trustworthy of apps for the Mac. I always preferred Fetch over the competition due to the simplicity: just drop the files in the relevant directory and no worry about synchronizing local and offsite directories ... !

I had written in my review from 2010 that their pricing is just so fair and moderate. Now we are here with OS10.10. and they still don’t ask for an upgrade price, see their news: “Fetch 5.7.4 is a free update if you purchased your Fetch license after January 28, 2009; otherwise an upgrade is $10, and a new license is $29. ” Way back then we had OS10.5.! @Fetch Softworks, thank you for your support!

Just works. Which is tepid praise for most things, but you never ever want to question your FTP software's ability to get stuff done. I used Fetch in the 1990's when it was the only choice. It was solid. Then I strayed to flashier, more modern apps. I tried them all, and every one of them disappointed me or thwarted me in some respect. I came back to Fletch, and it's great relief to have a grown-up tool to handle FTP tasks (which are always important tasks). This one's grey and aging, and still feels like a 1995-era app. For example, when editing a file name, it's not smart enough to only select the name portion; it selects (and forces you to retype) the extension as well. And if you upload a file, it doesn't warn you if you're uploading over a pre-existing file of the same name. Hey, it assumes you know what you're doing. But you can also assume Fetch knows what it's doing.

The ability to directly mirror remote servers is huge and may be unique to Mac-based ftp clients. Although others have more features, Fetch is reliable and easy to use.

I'm using Fetch for 10 years now almost daily and it has never let me down. On two occasions over the years I had questions and Jim Matthews was always there to help me the same day. I can see here and on the board at fetchsoftworks that their support is as great and active as it ever was. I paid a small upgrade price (I only remember it was small) 2005 for Fetch5 and 10 dollars last year for Fetch5.5. Their pricing is just so fair and moderate. If Fetch meets your needs and you are looking for a rock solid client with outstanding support give it a try. And thanks for the droplets, I love the droplets.

Fetch 5.6's support for remote editing has improved (though I'm not sure relative to what version). When you edit a file whose type is unknown it will ask you to assign an editor and allow you to store the setting. Option-Edit will allow you to temporarily or permanently change the setting. This is a clean solution. (I would also appreciate a way to edit the whole list of mappings, but that does require a complex new window). Minor annoyances remain: * There is no way to assign double-click to mean Edit (unlike Yummy FTP). * Fetch still requires a nonsense password for sftp when using public key authentication. It should not ask for a password at all. This is admittedly a minor annoyance, but adding all those nonsense passwords to your keychain clutters it up with garbage. I am shocked at how long this misfeature has been allowed to persist. * Still no way to set server-specific properties (such as special settings). This is obscure and most users will not care. But for those who need the special settings, they're not going to want to apply them to all servers. Fetch was, and I assume still is, is an excellent sftp client. They all have quirks so you should try out several before you buy. I'm personally happier with Yummy FTP, but before that I was very happy with Fetch (until remote editing with different editors was first introduced, in a way that ruined my workflow; I'm very glad to se that is now fixed). I found it to be very solid and well supported. Well worth checking out.
