FastScripts overview
FastScripts is a utility for quickly and elegantly executing AppleScript and shell scripts from within any application. FastScripts is a super-charged replacement for the Apple "Script Menu" menu extra. In addition to the functionality provided by Apple's Script Menu utility, FastScripts offers a number of compelling improvements:
- User-definable keyboard shortcuts for any scripts in the menu
- "SmartSwitching" avoids unnecessary context switches

- Running tasks now reflect menu focus and can be selected with keyboard modifiers to reveal/edit/etc.
- Fix the "Open Web Page" scripting addition so it continues working on macOS 14.4+
- Fixes to update the menu correctly when changes are made to aliased or symlinked folders
- The script menu is now updated accordingly when a file's Finder visibility changes
- Work around an issue where FastScripts's menu dismisses after clicking when secure input is disabled'

I've been a full-time daily user of FastScripts since 2005 and could not imagine being without it. Using it extensively with Photoshop and InDesign. If you depend on AppleScripts and shell scripts heavily like I do, you'll appreciate the time saved.
Being able to do so much from the keyboard makes my work more enjoyable. With FastScripts it begins to seem like a cross between a game and playing music.

Having used just about every automation utility for the Mac that's come out since 1984 and having used AppleScript extensively since 1996 I wasn't very impressed when FastScripts debuted in 2003. Just another AppleScript menu...
Then I used it for a couple of days.
Then I bought a copy.
Since then I've considered FastScripts to be an indispensable addition to any Mac I use.
I've used it alongside QuicKeys, iKey, and now Keyboard Maestro – because of the smooth way it handles keyboard shortcuts, showing scripts in the Finder, and Editing Scripts.
The developer is a former Apple Engineer and has been very responsive to feedback for over a decade now.
FastScripts has provided as much value for money as any app I've ever bought.

I can't function on a new system until I get FastScripts installed and setup. It's invaluable to my workflow.

FastScripts has already overcome the features, implementation and execution speed of Apple's script menu. The developer is very responsive to feedback and has demonstrated his desire to improve FastScripts with timely updates and new features. I urge everyone who finds this software useful to support its continued development by paying the more than reasonable registration fee.
