Hello, I've bought your app and got the license. But I can't register the serial in the app. I copied and pasted the license key into the program, but it doesn't stay in there. Also Data subscription? What do I enter in there?

Very nice app BUT I found that it is a bit of a CPU hog at times....

Version 5.9.1 is working just fine on the latest beta release of MacOS 12 Sierra. The developer claimed to be "surprised" his product worked on OS X 10.11, but it's also working on 10.12 . It seems to me he's just trying to milk more money through mostly pointless upgrades on a product that has offered very little that's new or innovative in years. (IMHO)

Attention EarthDesk developer. I recently bought a new computer and restored my computer via Time Machine. After the transfer I've lost my desktop settings. I've found the .jpg that shows the cities I've added. How do I restore this desktop? All in all I love EarhDesk!

The new version 7 of EarthDesk doesn’t seem to work well with Path Finder: It hides Path Finders desktop icons.

Dear developer, I have used EarthDesk for several years and have upgraded several times as I remember. Version 6 has worked well on the most recent versions of OS X. The version I have works flawlessly on 10.5.5 & 10.11.4 . I scoured your website, but I see no documentation about why I should upgrade to version 7. What has changed or improved since version I paid for, that makes it compelling to upgrade If no more clouds providers. It seems you ask a new buy for (7.x) with clouds subscriptions.

I just received an e-mail yesterday noting this app had been updated. I haven't used it for a couple years, but am glad I received it. It's a fantastic backdrop on my 27" iMac! There are more pref's to play with and the hires data looks great. Now I have to move everything off the desktop to see all displayed. I just wish the ISS icon was designed like the ISS and not a small yellow circle. It took me a while to figure that out. Looks great - get it!

Since yesterday I updated to version 7.0 of EarthDesk and I find it better than before and better than ever. I use it on my 27'' jMac and with the new Gradicule options I can orientate everything much better. The preferences now are much better and easy to use. And the updatefee is ok. A big thanks to the developers...

Using EarthDesk for your desktop looks rather messy especially the evening view with a huge blob of black. It's also difficult to see the various folders etc that I have parked on my desktop. There also should be hot keys to go from start desktop to stop desktop. Now you have mouse way up to the apple menu, find the icon and select start or stop from a drop down menu. Not certain it's even worth the discount price for my budget on shareware. Maybe the next version will be improved.

Is EarthDesk 5.9.1 fully compatible to Mountain Lion (10.8.2) or are there some issues (showstoppers).

Thank you for your email advisory regarding 6.0, but I am no longer interested in your product, and I haven't even use it in many months, even though I paid for it. Like so many other people who have expressed their thoughts regarding your product, for a long time now, I haven't been very impressed by the quality of the cloud maps, particularly given the fact that they are now an additional annual charge to your product's price. I understand your side of the story, but if I recall correctly, hi-res cloud maps -- even though the hi-res maps back then were of lower quality than the ones which are now available -- were originally included as part of the purchase price for EarthDesk, or am I mistaken? That is why so many people are now complaining. They feel cheated. They feel that something has been taken away which they paid for, regardless of whether or not that situation has been under your control. It is very difficult to win back the confidence of customers once they feel they have been conned by a developer. Please note that I am not accusing you of anything. I am simply informing you of how some of your customers feel. Personally, being as I live in a tropical region which is subject to potential typhoons each year, the cloud coverage was the most important aspect of your program to me. The Earth shadow, etc., is of little interest to me. To be quite honest, I can obtain higher quality, more timely cloud coverage images from NOAA's GOES satellite which covers our region of the world. Their images -- while in black and white -- are updated every hour 24/7 during the entire year -- and not once every three hours like your program -- except when there are occasional satellite glitches. In fact they are so good, that in years past, I have created two-week long movies which display a continuous cloud coverage cycle with developing typhoons. At any rate, between requiring an annual upgrade fee, plus an annual hi-res cloud coverage fee, as with others, your product has simply lost its appeal for me. It is basically a one-trick pony which just isn't financially worth it. Others obviously feel differently.

The app's update check says 5.9.1 is the newest available and I don't see how to upgrade on the site, only option seems to be full purchase.

Just upgraded to 6.0. Fixing the Mission Control/Spaces bug alone makes this upgrade worth it. Loving the ISS/sun/moon overlays. real-time updates, etc. These fixes and features, plus the fact that this has been my sole background for years, make the upgrade a no-brainer.

A big thanks to the developers... This is one of my mostly used software ever. It's stable, comfortable and without any glitches. The new higher resolution is a big improvement for me. I hope that it will work with OS 10.8 as well as with Snow Leopard.

Today we nearly doubled the free cloud resolution, from 1.125 megapixels, to 2 megapixels. This matches the standard resolution that EarthDesk has used since the cloud feature was added in 2003. We will soon be increasing the paid high-res clouds from 18 to 32 megapixels, but it will require an update to the software.
