ConceptDraw PROJECT

As for me there is nothing better than ConceptDraw PROJECT v8 due to its variety of reports available. Since those guys launched a cloud storage tool ConceptDraw PLAN letting share your projects with your team my life has become even easier. It is not free of charge though either....

I would give 5 stars if only there was a spanish version. Other than that, tool is good enough for planning and tracking, and in bundle with a drawing program it gives you possibilities to do eye-catchy dashboard presentations. Whizzy app!

I'm sorry to write this, but this app doesn't work. I downloaded the trial version, and was for half an hour creating a basic home-refurbishing project. The dependencies just didn't work well. Then it switched off and deleted 15 min. work, when creating the resources. These are very basic. Besides I honestly don't understand why you have to purchase another module just for the PERT chart, which is a PM tool, not simply another diagram. I was using GANTTPROJECT, which looks much too simple, but it's more or less the same, and for free, so I stay with my GANTTPROJECT till MS Project is available to my pocket and my mac.

Do not buy ConceptDraw PROJECT. I'd warn people off using ConceptDraw PROJECT as an alternative to MSProject. The software was terrible at profiling activities by linking though dependencies. After linking separate tasks using the predecessor and successor columns, the tasks would either refuse to move at all or, when they did move, the dates on the parent tasks would remain unchanged, which was a real issue when I wanted to print off a copy of my programme to review start and end dates. When I contacted their customer services they were not helpful at all. I raised the ticket over 5 weeks ago and I've had nothing of worth back. I've given up and requested a refund.

I'm a professional Project Manager and have been using the ConceptDraw Suite for a couple of years. I really like the integration with Project and the Mindmapping as well as drawing tools that are part of the ConceptDraw Suite. For simple projects, ConcetpDraw Project works OK. However, the reporting tools within Project is unacceptable as your schedule becomes a bit more complex. Several of the reports have over-striking issues or don't report what they should. One of my biggest issues is a lack of a task ID that would directly map between the actual schedule and the line items printed on the reports. This lack of a task ID makes it very difficult to map a line# printed on the reports to the actual schedule,... I have reported dozens of issues to the technical support department over the last two years, some of the elements were resolved although most of the Project reporting tools bugs/deficiencies have yet to be addressed. Although the technical support department in North America acknowledges my requests and confirms the deficiencies or bugs, the developers in Europe are not addressing the issues. I'm not talking about 'nice-to-haves' here, I'm talking about flaws in the reporting that makes it very difficult to manage projects. I'm at a stage now where I'm looking for alternatives for Project that runs well on a Mac and that would integrate with a Mindmapping tool. As soon as I find something good, I'll drop ConceptDraw altogether. it's too bad though since the drawing tool and mind-mapping are awesome.

the latest version 6 supports MS Project files and can export amazing dashboards using another ConceptDraw tool - PRO

I'm using the ConceptDraw Pro and Mindmap software for over a year now and feel pretty happy with it. Now I've started my free trial month with project and I have noticed that ConceptDraw Project and MindMap use the same document to work with project. I usually come back from Cantt Chart to MindMap to rework and improve projects.

ConceptDraw Project version 6 is a kick butt product. It is dead simple to manage one or many projects, in fact the program has the ability to imbed projects inside of projects so I can roll everything up. Easy to manage single group of resources over all the projects I have on the go, and it opens Microsoft Project native files (right on my Mac). What is not to like for about $200. It also integrates with their office suite which has other tools to help me manage what I am working on. That costs a bit more than the $200 for project. Good tool, good functionality, and good reporting.

I started using this app at v2. Like all ConceptDraw, the underlying concept is well executed, but the cross platform nature of the app does show up at the UI. This version 3 is however a major leap forward in UI goodness (and I keep underestimating how important that is to me). One killer feature that kept me with CD Project, in v2, is that a Project file can be a small bundle of projects, each of which can be represented in a all encompassing project, but which keeps tracking subprojects clean. The big plus with CD is that activities from different projects in the bundle can be linked to each other in the encompassing project. Difficult to explain, but unique for this program as far as I know. Unfortunately the upgrade to v3 has temporarily disabled this feature, but CS Odessa ensured me it will return in an update. Responsive support, too, especially on their forum.

$180? For this? Not as it is now! How about if you make it work properly then take money from people. Their marketing people must be delusional. Yo, programmers, it's still flaky. Tested in 10.3. Lines/links between task bars in Gantt charts easily become disconnected and free-float when column widths are changed or sometimes when view is changed from daily to weekly. When changing column widths the column title box width stays the same but the rest of the column changes (workaround is to change the width then deselect one column from 'Column view' setting, hit OK, then reselect it, hit OK; the column will then be correctly drawn). Sometimes draws part of Gantt chart in Column window, and vice versa. Also, how about direct import/export of MS Project .mpp files? and ability to change fonts and font sizes? Crashes with "unexpectedly quit" error when closing documents. On the plus side, it does export graphics well in different formats and the parts that work are pretty easy to use. OK effort for project sw, but would be better if it were more stable.
