Comic Neue is a modern, acceptable update to Comic Sans font. It aspires to be the casual script choice for everyone including the typographically savvy. The squashed, wonky, and weird glyphs of Comic Sans have been beaten into shape while maintaining the honesty that made Comic Sans so popular. It's perfect as a display face, for marking up comments, and writing passive aggressive office memos.
Comic sans is not pretty. If you look at it impartially, it just looks deformed. This font is actually very attractive. So it's a really valuable addition to the Mac (assume it also works on Windows, but I don't know). I like this.
The current version is 2.3. The Developer's website states:
"Comic Neue v2.2: Added support for over 40 languages and improved metrics.
Comic Neue v2.3: Added support for Esperanto, low quotation marks, improved CSS."
Thanks, who would have thought anyone could have done anything to bring a semblance of redemption to the most (rightly) ridiculed typeface in history!!!
I actually really like this! Nice work. I suppose you could argue that this isn't really Comic Sans anymore, but it's still a nice font that really does have a friendly, casual air to it.
"Acceptable?" Comic Sans is just fine. To make it a bit more like real Comic Book lettering, you have to use a Lower Case "L" rather that the Upper Case I-Beam "I". Other than that, its cool!
