monthly subscription charge, high price for what amounts to an utility that duplicated much of what I already have "for free" on my mac. Twice the price of an superior contact app (BusyContacts) with double the trouble. Just... nope. This is a bad app.

A former good App. The Denver startup "FullContact" now owns Cobook and is converting it into a front end to their cloud-based service, with monthly subscriber fees. FullContact is, in many respects, a data aggregation service, leveraging your contacts' details in relation to publicly available data about such persons. READ their PRIVACY notice in full. A beta version is available on their web site, The Cobook app, as we know it, is being replaced to support this new service model. I, for one, am reluctant to subscribe to such services due to security and data privacy concerns unless these concerns are outweighed by the value provided.

The latest version of this once great little app no longer opens on my iMac using 10.10.4.
Spinning beachball is all I get, and I've trashed the preferences file and tried other fixes to no avail.
Time to dump it and find a replacement.

Had this App for a while and just read the comments below and thought i'd give it another go.. just spent the best part of 20 mins trying to sync 1 contact!! Very frustrating, added a address, numbers etc.. only to hit sync for the Mac and iCloud, then the contact appears on my phone blank... gave up after that to much work, and the updated one is $9.99 a month!!

As noted below in the previous version, I too can't seem to add contacts to this application. It insists upon accessing my Apple "Contacts" - which I don't use much and will not let me add names and numbers directly to it.
I just don't understand why this app is listed if it does not do what it says it will do without using Apple Contacts.

Since some people are bitching about various things wrong with Cobook, let me speak about what's right with it. A lot of us who upgraded to Yosemite have found it difficult or even impossible to pair our iPhones with our Macs, which means that until Apple cleans up its Bluetooth act the number-dialing programs we'd normally use, such as Dialectic and PhoneAmego, are uselesss. These guys at Cobook have figured out some way to allow a Mac to communicate with an iPhone without relying on Bluetooth, so at the moment Cobook is the only such program worth having. No matter what else may be right or wrong about it, i. m. h. o. this single feature earns it 4 1/2 stars,

If I download this and try to put in new numbers or import numbers, those options are unavailable (greyed out). The app does not work at all unless you want it to use your contacts from the Apple app. This is no good.

This used to be my go-to app for the AddressBook/Contacts database. Now it's useless. All entries display "no name". I don't care that it does Gmail and Apple Contacts. Syncing made a mess of both databases.
I've put up with it's decreasing feature set as time goes on hoping they'd fix it. Instead, they got acquired.
CoBook is now a piece of crap and dead to me.

WHY do you keep f**king with what was once a superior little piece of software?
Several versions ago,it didn't even work. Support said, try a beta.
You keep changing the UI, for reasons unknown.
It used to default to Favorites list - now one has to bring up Tags and you have to choose a list - bummer. One more click.
i could go on - and what *is* that thing in the menubar? Just ... why.

If you like CoBook.. beware before letting the AppStore update to new version
New interface released today.. sucks soooo bad. I can't even invoke the contextual menu for copying a field content anymore. Maybe I'll just go back to the regular Mac Address book. What a terrible update CoBook.
I feel my my girlfriend just cam home weighing 100lbs more and face full of ketchup an mayo.

Newest version from App Store (1.3) will NOT load on 10.6 even though description says it is compatible. Had to completely delete, re-downloaded. Same thing. Totally deleted again, and will not try again unless newer version comes out.

So much less tedious than Address Book or Contacts. Cobook has worked brilliantly for me since first release. Don't know what the fuss is about.

I really wanted to like this app, and I did until it abruptly stopped syncing with my iCloud Contacts. Just one day, showed 0 contacts. (I have over 2,800 in the "Contacts" app). Emailed for help and after several days, got a question that was already answered in my first email. Resent the original question (ie WhatThe...) and after five days gave up. Deleted all Cobook files, re-downloaded and reinstalled. Worked again, for 24 hours, then - 0 contacts. I gave up, deleted the app. Fifteen bucks wasted, I guess.
