ClickToFlash

Safari 12 will not allow me to use this App. Instead it directs me to the App website for fee based extensions in an attempt to make me buy something! I am fed up with Apple attempting to control my life and decisions. If it wants to warn me that's fine but to force itself on my as gatekeeper without my permission is outrageous. I paid good money for the Mac I am using and I should be able to configure it as I wish without Apple acting as a helicopter parent. If I want to accept the risk of installing an App that should be my decision, not Apple's. Apple is NOT my parent and I am not a child! Frankly I have all but abandoned Safari anyway as Chrome increases my productivity for my work by a factor I would guess to be around 5X. As far as I am concerned Safari has one foot in the grave and is on life support.

I'm copying here what I just wrote on the Flash page, it surely will be useful to someone: Until today I thought I could not get rid of Flash because of a few video websites that were getting stuck when using ClickToFlash on Safari, showing they had not implemented html5 yet... I've just decided to try and uninstall Flash anyway and to my big surprise, those sites loaded their proprietary non-Flash player instead! So, this was just a side-effect of ClickToFlash! :-o In the end, this extension has become as useless as Flash itself. :-)

Sadly Click2Flash 3.2 isn't compatible with Safari 10 and won't be updated any longer "due to Apple’s new development policies" according to the developer.

I have faithfully used this extension for years. Recently, though, something has changed. Now, when I go to YouTube, invisible advertising begins to play in the background even though the plugin is enabled. The ad that plays is normally one for a charging station of some sort. If I uninstall this extension, I no longer have the autoplay problem. It's quite frustrating, because I'm a HUGE fan of this developer and this product. I hope this is something that can be easily fixed. Has anyone else had this issue? The one and only reason I'm giving a bad rating for this version is because of the background advertising that autoplays and I can't stop.

I used this for several years. Works fine and support is outstanding. But I have removed Flash some months ago. Most sites work without problems, on some sites I have to fake to use an iPad. Then video download can be enabled with the Media Center Safari extension. As a last resort I use Chrome with its own flash.

The extension has quit working for me. I left for 2 weeks and now Safari is playing videos automatically again. I trashed the extension and downloaded again, but I can't seem to stop the autoplay. Safari 8.0.6 and OS 10.10.3

YES! The latest Yosemite Beta fixes the issue with downloading from YouTube -- you no longer have to change the user agent to Safari 7.1. Whew!

Update don't work on my MBP 2012..... Safari don't like extension switch to Chrome

Does what is says it'll do - perfectly. I love that on machines that are getting rather old this will block the Flash ads that bring these machines to their knees.

Updated automatically in Safari. Nonetheless, this is an opportunity to thanks the developer again … this is a GREAT extension.

Hi all, Was wondering if anyone else was experiencing an issue with youtube, where unless you use flash directly, the highest resolution is 720p. It had been working all along until today, and now when i use one of my downloader extensions either in safari or firefox, the highest res for mp4 download has maxed at 720p even if there is larger.

This is one of my essential extensions because I love having control over which videos play when. I started using it shortly after the big security concerns, maybe a year ago, and I found it stops many annoying auto run ads as well. Never have I had any troubles with it. Thank you to the makers!

Wow, finally... I always wanted to STOP using flash!! And searched a lot, and Finally found this solution. From what I have tried untill now, This is the best one with latest MacOS and Latest Safari. Keep up the good work!

I really like this extension and it does it's job well. To me, its a must have for Safari. I've went to the developer's page and looked through the comments to find out what's different between ClickToFlash and ClickToPlugin. So anybody know what it is? If I missed it somewhere on the site or asked this in the wrong place, I apologize in advance. I just joined MacUpdate a few days ago.

OMG! This little extension is awesome.I mean it's updated and is working smoothly in Safari 6.if you think about it,there is no extension or application which can do this job as nicely as this extension does .HTML5 and Download for stupid flash? isn't it the best?

Not much of an expert - but just thanks - again for letting us flash the trash ... it is a whole new browsing experience without the moving adds.

It doesn't work!!! Some websites still open some pages behind Safari! When we click on a video on some webpages, we see a quick flash on screen and notice another page has opened behind the Safari webpage we are viewing! So ClickToFlash does NOT work for all websites!

Easy to use and cannot beat the price of FREE.

Been using this for years and it's the best of the best on any platform. Thankfully, it's for Safari on Mac. The developer continuously updates CTF to make sure it works with ever changing websites like YouTube. The functionality makes so much sense that I often forget it's not a standard built into Safari (as it should be). Let's me in one click download which kind (mp4 or flash) and resolution of a video I want to download which is amazingly intuitive & easy. Stellar must-have. Wouldn't update Safari to a newer version without it, period.
