Chronicle Pro

I have been using Chronicle for years now and absolutely love it. The developer has consistently been Improving and adding features since launch. One of my favorite features is the ability to attach the invoice or statement to the transaction allowing you to go back years to reference any time. For all the features it has it is a very reasonable priced application. Give it a try, I think you will love it.

I wrote a review about Chronicle in 2014, and I stand by my comments. There are only a few "indispensable" apps on my Mac, but Chronicle is one of them. I have never missed a bill payment since I started using Chronicle, and as a result, my credit rating has soared. I get reminders of when bills are due, and the app synchronizes across all my devices, which means even if I'm on vacation with only my phone, I can still make sure my payments are submitted in time. Highly recommended.

There are a lot of complaints regarding the switch from the free upgrade policy. We contacted the developer and this is their statement: "[Free upgrades] was the policy for us to provide free updates up until September 2013 (when Chronicle was on version 5), when that kind of [policy] became unsustainable, and we discontinued that policy and removed that statement from our website. Despite discontinuing the [Free upgrades] policy with Chronicle 5, we never charged for an update until version 8. Further, anyone who purchased from us in September 2013 or earlier is still eligible for a free upgrade to the latest version, they just have to contact us to request a license, as we have done for numerous people, and always tell people if they ask." We suggest ignoring the comments regarding the price and contacting the developer to request an upgrade to the latest version.

Using C7, tried C8, and the only difference is Forecast tab with useless feature. And, Yes, in my world it is cheating, promising free updates forever and asking pay again for the really minor update.

I know software costs money to create, and the developer needs to eat, but he shouldn't make guarantees and promises for "free upgrades for life" if he can't keep them. Very disappointed as this "guarantee" was a big factor in my purchasing decision.

Seems unreasonable that there is no free upgrade path for people that have just purchased the app in the past month or two. I even contacted the developer and was told a flat "no".

Useless with iOS app. No local Wi-Fi syncing. Not putting my private info on any Cloud nor Dropbox server.

Great App, just be careful to remember whether you bought it from the MAS or directly from the developer. I didn't realize I had purchased Chronicle from the MAS because in Purchases I had for some reason hidden it. When I saw an update on MacUpdate within the last week or two, I never considered having purchased it from the MAS. I updated from this site. Today, I went to pay bills and nothing showed. Nothing. Years of history and regular bills set up through the year and longer. I freaked! I should have realized what it meant when I could not find a license code anywhere in my email archives, LicenseKeeper, or 1Password. I went to MAS and it wasn't listed in purchases. I checked under my account settings and showed hidden purchases. There it was from back in 2012. I used AppDelete to archive and then delete the current version (just the App-nothing else) I had installed on Chronicle and then reinstalled from MAS. All my data is back! So please save yourself some anxiety and aggravation and check all of your MAS purchases first.

As for Chronicle, I use Quicken (ugh), but together with Chronicle I can keep up, even ahead, of what is due or coming up. I really couldn't function without it, and recommend it wholeheartedly.

I have had some support help with the developer in the past. He's a one-person operation, but still very responsive to his customers.

The App Store version and the downloadable versions seem to be quite out of sync at the moment with the app store landing in at 5.3.1 and the downloadable being 5.5.

First off... I LOVE CHRONICLE!! Couldn't live without it!! I have gotten sooooo many people using it!! However... last night there was an update to 5.5.0 and now all of my bills are GONE!! It tries to sync but gets hung up and freezes with the Sync bar just sitting there. I track hundreds of bills, I'm having heart failure over the loss of them, PLEASE HELP!!! What do I do???!!!

Can't I do the same thing with Reminders in conjunction with my financial software? $10 gets me what, again?

Please note: There are TWO versions of Chronicle available, and they aren't exactly the same. There is the downloadable version from the developer's web site, and the App Store version, which includes the ability to sync across devices via iCloud. I made the mistake of overwriting my App Store version with the latest downloadable release and wiped out my entire bill data (reminders, history, etc.). If you need the ability to sync via iCloud, do NOT download the version available here!

Is the App Store the only way to get version 5.2.0? I have a licensed copy of the non-App Store version, and no matter whether I download via the link on this page or via MacUpdate Desktop, the zip file contains version 5.1.0. (To add insult to injury, the file that MUD downloads says it's 5.2.0, even though when you unzip it, it's still just 5.1.0.) If I have the app itself check for updates, it says 5.1.0 is the most current version. If you can get 5.2.0 only from the App Store, and you can't transfer a license from the non-App Store version to the App Store version, this page needs to make that explicitly clear. And shame on the developer for not providing an upgrade path for those of us who prefer to buy our apps directly from developers instead of from the App Store.

I bought this application two months ago via the developer website. Now they release the version 5.2.0 with iCould support. However, you won't be able to get this feature if you don't buy from Mac AppStore.

The Mac AppStore version is currently sell for $9.99. I love the iCould sync feature and I've been waiting for it. Even though I love this application, paying another $9.99 for this feature doesn't make sense to me. I wouldn't buy this application from the developer website if I would know about this. Really disappointed.

I have been using this app for approximately 1 month and I absolutely love it. The program does exactly what it says it will do and I highly recommend it to anyone that loses track of the timing on their bill paying. Keeps me right on schedule. If this program keeps working right I will be using it for a long long time!

Great program. Simplifies bill tracking...once less thing to think about. Nice interface and usability.

I just bought Chronicle. Great application. One thing that bugs me though, the icons look a little bit outdated (old style). Having the possibility to really customise the icons (putting yourself the logo of the credit card or insurance company, for example) would be very useful. Mike, if you're reading this...
