Ammonite

I really like Ammonite. I spent much of the last year creating and refining a system within DEVONthink specific to book keeping. I now use Ammonite, rather than DEVONthink, to query that database. It is so much easier and such a pleasant experience. I love the visual tag cloud, support for hierarchical tags, and the very intuitive date filtering process. The developer Robby is extremely responsive and eager to continually improve this product. I highly recommend Ammonite.

If you use tags and/or DEVONthink Pro Office, this is a great little app. It works well and a time saver. Give it a try! I give Ammonite a 5-star rating because it does exactly what is expected.

Great little add on. Thanks for making it!! Please update the logo though. As the saying goes, don't judge an app by its logo; but unfortunately people sadly do. There should be a rating for the "look and feel". otherwise, it's great. It doesn't really crash on me like others have said, so yay.

A user has reported a problem with release 1.9: Ammonite will crash when auto-indexing is enabled. Workaround: disabled this option by removing the preferences file ~/Library/Preferences/com.soma-zone.Ammonite.plist. We're working on a fix.

The latest 1.5x updates bring additional utility to a very nice add-on to DEVONthink. New date searching and document type functionality added to tags searching is great! The developer is very responsive to feedback and has quickly addressed the bugs I have reported. Ideally, it would be nice if DEVONthink included the functionality that Ammonite provides, but until then this utility should be on the 'must try' list for DEVONthink users. At $5.00 USD the price is right also.

This add on for DevonThink is just fantastic. Thanks developer.

Release 1.4.1 makes massive strides in performance. Scans a database almost instantaneously - compared to the minutes-long scans in prior releases. Good job, Soma Zone!

I don't know what is with all the complaints. The dev is active responding everywhere and everyones questions. The dev takes criticism and feature requests and implements them best he can. If it is too unstable for you, post so but don't say it is not worthy of being listed on MU. I can think of many other apps that are way less stable than this app. Good concept, active development, grab it when you think it is stable enough for you. I don't run it all the time but I like the idea and how it is implemented... remember this isn't an app that has been out for 6 months. It is new, and has new app problems as a wide base of users test it here on MU. MU is a great place to get tons of feedback from lots of people running different hardware on many different versions of OS X. Keep up the good work dev!!!

Bugs. Crashes. Hangs. Slow. The concept is good (better than what DEVONtechnologies does for its own product), but so far Ammonite is barely ready for alpha testing let alone public release. It should be clearly marked "experimental".

Hmmm. After a reboot of my machine, I can't get this error to reproduce either. I thought it might have been related to Ammonite having to launch DEVONThink Pro Office (when it isn't already started), but that doesn't seem to be a factor. If I can get the error to occur again, I'll attempt to open another bug entry for it. Thanks!

Since DevonThink Pro is the heart of my digital universe, I am definitely going to look into this. The cloud tag idea, of itself, is really interesting. After I try, I'll report back here, but in the meantime, thanks to the developer for the initiative and creativity.

Would have loved to have tried this out, but it repeatedly crashes. When I went to the developer Web site to file a bug, the automated bug system will not let me file as it keeps telling me that the "security number" (captcha) is incorrect. Not off to a good start! Been playing with this for just a few minutes and have found some glitches: 1) Extremely slow 2) Can't figure out how to clear a recent search 3) Can't double click on a found item to open it 4) No support for contextual menus 5) Have to click the menu bar icon to open a found item 6) Really see no use for this if I have to have DevonThinkProOffice open in order to use it I love DTPOffice and DevonAgent and have been using these for years, but, unless I'm missing something, Ammonite does not add value to either one of these very fine products.
